Well we can't hide from it here in the midwest....winter. I need to figure out what I will be doing over these cold months. First I'm still available for photo sessions because snowy shots can be some of the most beautiful photos. It's hard to schedule for good snow cover on the ground but if your interested in a snowy session let me know and lets see if we can work up a plan. Between photo shoots and work I do have a few ideas on how to keep me busy.
The one thing I want to focus on is getting my website ranked higher on Google. This is important so that I can expand my audience and potentially get new clients. I think pet photography is a bigger market than some may think but it is still small enough that I need to get as much exposure as I can. So what do I know about SEO (Search engine optimization) zero, zilch, nada. I will be spending some time learning about SEO so that I can get my rankings up as much as I can on my own.
One activity that I like to do in the winter is watching Photoshop Training videos. This winter I will be using a photography training site called Phlearn. I've been looking through their stuff and am amazed at the talents of their instructor Arron and his teaching style is easy to follow along with, so I'm really looking forward to learning some new techniques.
Another big thing I want to focus on is helping find homeless dogs new homes. This is a very big deal to me and I'm working on some projects to hopefully do my part and help out. I'm shocked at how many people are just willing to dump their dogs at a shelter because somehow the dog has suddenly become an inconvenience to them. The shelters and rescues are always operating at maximum capacity and minimum funding but they keep pushing on and trying to do their best, so I hope I can play some small part in helping them out.
Remember if your looking for high quality photography for your pets feel free to get in contact with me and we can work out an idea for your session and plan it around the upcoming snow if you would like. If you are a shelter or rescue that needs help with photos of your adoptable pets please don't hesitate to contact me and we can arrange a photo session to help get those pets a furever home.
